Interview with Miss M

Hello, reader! Here I am, over seven years after my last post, still visiting my first ever blog. I find a lot of joy reading through the posts on here, and if you're reading this I hope you do too. I miss the days when I'd jump on here to post about Emma's latest photoshoot or interview. I miss when blogs and the written word were more loved. So, in the spirit of keeping the blogging world alive, I decided to take Emma's Harper's Bazaar interview and ask myself the questions she answered in 2012!

favorite fashion designers/brands: I like free people, burberry, H&M, Scandinavian looks or brands, but mostly I shop for second-hand pieces from brands I like. I just found a deep blue and white speckled chunky knit sweater originally from american eagle that fits perfectly and I only paid 12 dollars for it.

item of clothing you would never throw out: I have a bad habit of tossing pieces and then regretting it. I wish I had kept so many unique pieces I had purchased in my teens. I'll say my new olive green jacket from H&M because I am obsessed with it and it reminds me of an olive rain jacket I once had that I wish I'd kept.

how would you define your personal style?: effortless, simple, and slightly whimsical.

what’s your own fashion trademark?: to never be too put together. for me, less will always be more and where I can, I like to rebel against the idea of perfect plastic beauty.

favorite accessory: I'm not an accessory lover but I think my brown leather satchel goes with everything and never get tired of wearing it.

favorite color: in life? blue. in fashion? cream or grey.

favorite scent: scents that are not artificial and aren't too sweet are my favorite. I like pretty much anything from the LUSH store. if it has a citrus, patchouli, and something to lighten it up like vanilla or toasted peony, I will wear it.

what’s your face wash?: I like very simple, clean products. right now, I use clinique take the day off cleansing balm paired with a cera ve gel cleanser.

makeup?: laura mercier flawless liquid foundation, benefit hoola bronzer,  l'oreal telescopic mascara in brown, soap and water in my brows, and a lip balm.

where do you get your hair done?: a local salon called posh.

favorite architect: I honestly don't have one. architecture is something that never occupies my mind.

favorite destination: all the places I've never been.

favorite discovery: mushroom coffee, my favorite blogs, and zumba.

favorite hotel: I haven't been to many different hotels that are memorable, so I'll say the Hilton in Chicago because that's where we stay every time we visit my grandparents and it has good memories.

favorite luggage: I love packing in carry-ons instead of suitcases. I feel like my stuff always gets tossed around inside of suitcases.

most memorable party: I am not a party person. the closest I get to that is bingo at church on new years eve.

when you can’t think of something to give a friend, what do you give?: baked goods, books, or candles.

necessary extravagance: a warm drink in the morning or a candle to burn.

favorite movies: the lord of the rings, the last samurai, and pan's labyrinth.

favorite artist: degas or van gogh.

favorite cocktail: I don't drink, but I will never say no to fizzy water.

handwritten thank-you note or immediate e-mail?: handwritten thank you.

if you have personalized stationery, where do you get it from?: I wish I was that fancy! I usually tear out a page from my sketchbook and use my stamps and golden ink to create pretty letters or notes.

the true hallmark of modern elegance is: knowing how to express yourself without compromising yourself.

Emma at One Young World Summit 2016

In 2016, Emma spoke at the One Young World Summit in Canada.

She discussed He for She with the Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

While there, she spoke about gender equality and the importance of young people being involved in politics.

The work Emma does is truly inspiring, as well as the elegant and peaceful way in which she handles what she is passionate about.

Her speech:

Everything Em wore was eco friendly and made by Maiyet and Dior.

Vogue Italia 2015 Added to the Gallery

Emma covered the 2015 issue of Vogue Italia. I added the photos to the gallery, here.
I really like the haunting aspect of these photos, it's very different to anything I've seen Emma photographed in before.

Here's a backstage video of the photoshoot,
