Makeup Tutorial: MISS MIX FINLAND COVER

Emma recently appeared on the cover of Miss Mix. A magazine from Finland! I hope you enjoy this  Tutorial for Emma's cover look!
Copy Emma's gorgeous look by covering your face with a light foundation, like this one from  L'Oreal Paris. Set the foundation with some loose face powder from Nars. Use a highlight and contour like NYX Cosmetics'. Fill in and Brush brows with this dazzling kit from Ulta. Next use a shimmer on the inner corners and brow bone, and a chocolate brown on the lids with a slightly lighter brown in the crease using this earthy pallet from L'Oreal Paris. Take a white Jumbo eyeliner in Milk from NYX and use it on the waterline. Use a brown lengthening mascara like this one from Avon after curling the lashes. Finally use Lancôme Paris Color Design Nude Lipstick to finish this fabulous Emma Watson look!
For your hair you can straighten and place a far side part. Accessorize with this White Headband from Scunci!

Portraits by Mark Demsteader

In June 2011 The Amazing artist Mark Demsteader created a series of portraits featuring Emma. Mark had been one of Emma's Favorite artists for a long while as  Emma statesThe Finished Collection is now exhibited at the Panter& Hall gallery on Bury St. In London. It consists of 34 different poses of Emma in different mediums- Gouache and Charcoal Drawings, Ink Paintings and Oils.

Born in Manchester, Mark Deamsteader still lives and works there. He studied art foundation at Rochdale college and Oldham college, but he is largely self taught having spent many years studying the figure at life drawing classes and developing a unique style through close observation of the human form.
Being one of the most popular artist of late, Mark has started a new, fresh, unique style which has a certain Baroque feel. To view some of Marks earlier pieces visit his website,www.markdeamsteader.com
Mark talks about the "Emma Collection" below,
It has been a wonderful privilege to work with Emma on these images. The idea behind them is to make a collection to celebrate Emma’s birthday. I wanted to capture a moment in time, and by making each piece a quick snapshot, I hope to capture Emma as she reaches 21. In some way I hope these works celebrate Emma in what she has achieved already, and in all the many possibilities to come.”
Mark has very generously decided that 10% of all sale proceeds and one painting of Emma will be donated to the charity of Emma's choice, CAMFED International which is a charity that supports the education of girls, and economic empowerment of young women in Africa.
Emma states that being able to help the less fortunate was the button on her blouse!
I am really excited that Mark said he would support CAMFED International with this exhibition, too. They are a great charity doing an amazing job educating girls in Africa.

The exhibition is now opened view their website for more info, www.panterandhall.com

Makeup Tutorial: HBP LONDON PREMIERE

Emma Watson, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince premiere, 2009 http://beautyeditor.ca/2013/11/22/emma-watson-before-and-after/

Happy Valentines Day!

Today I have for you a tutorial on one of my favorite looks of Emma's. She was very feminine and cherry-blossomesque at the London premiere of Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince. She pinned her hair up loosely and added a thin red ribbon which went with the barely visible outlines of some of the flowers on her vintage Ossie Clark dress.

FACE:

Wash- Cleanse and moisturize your face before starting
Blend- I'm going to guess that Emma's stylist used foundation on Emma - they almost always do. It looks like a lightweight cream or liquid that's semi illuminating. Alternatively if you don't like foundation (like myself) a tinted moisturizer, a bit of concealer, a dust of illuminating powder foundation or nothing at all is all fine. The goal is, fresh, clean, dewy skin. Whatever you choose, blend well, trailing down the neck and out to the ears. Working with a freshly moisturized face can help a lot.
Dust- Depending on the level of illumination your foundation provides you may want to add more dew to the areas of the face were light naturally hits. i.e. forehead, bridge of nose, cupid's bow and cheekbones. Liquid or powder, just keep it light.
Spread- Emma's blush is high on her cheeks and blended very well. It is a very earthy toned blush, almost like a toasted rose color and it's matte so it doesn't overplay the dewy skin. Cream or powder, just be sure to blend it out (bring it up to the temples and keep it back on the cheekbones to mimic Emma's shape) and don't be frightened to make it show- you usually need more blush than you think.

BROWS:
Shape- Emma has very lovely brows. They're clean and polished but still bold. Plus they're not super-humanly long which makes them easier to achieve. If you're looking to change your brow shape remember to keep them thicker more on the natural side I think that suits everyone's face. I use this video and apply the tips to the shape of brow I want.
Comb- Comb through your brand new brows with an old (clean) mascara wand or a brow brush. You can use a tinted brow gel to hold them in place which is most likely what Em's makeup artist did.

EYES:

Swipe- For the best results in your eye makeup you should use an eye shadow primer. Just swipe it all over your lid.
Brush- Emma's shadow looks like a purple/smokey toned taupe brown. It's almost plumb, nearly gray but definitely brown. Take a fluffy crease brush (unfortunately, the brush type does make a difference) and swipe this color into the crease, on the outer corner in a "triangle" shape and lightly towards the nose. The key here is to start light and slowly build the color up. Blend and follow your bone structure. TIP: hold a tissue under your eye to catch the "fall out" and steer clear from cheaper eye shadows- if it isn't a pigmented, velvety powder formula it'll be hard to work with, create a ghost of the color and have terrible fall out.  try this.
Press- Shimmer is what creates that beautiful doe eyed effect in Emma's makeup. Here, she has a champagne shimmer eye shadow pressed into the outer corner, reaching to the center lid and swept down across the lower lash line. Use your preferred brush and press it in blending the gray/brown/purple/taupe mystery shadow and the shimmer together seamlessly.
Curl- Give your lashes a quick curl starting from the base and moving out.
Comb- Em's eyelashes are fanned out and semi spidery but their not overdone or clumpy. The key here is to wipe a bit of the excess goop onto a tissue from your mascara wand before you begin. All of that extra formula is just going to weigh your lashes down and smother them. You should start at the base with a wiggling motion and move outward, catching the tips of your lashes. It looks as though Emma has a couple coats so wait until your first has dried a bit and go again.

LIPS:

Rub- Looks like nothing more than a matte moisturizing lip balm in a light pink color. Simply rub it in and you're done!
